(2) The University-Assisted Community School
A framework for our activities is the university-assisted community school, an approach that unites the most important influences in young people’s lives- school, family and community — to create a web of support that nurtures youth development toward productive adulthood. In conjunction with key community partners, we conduct collaborative programs at a number of local public schools.
In a large county like Prince George’s, where government and services are often remote and where there are few places for community to assemble, it is especially important to place the school at the center of community.
