Langley Park McCormick Elementary School (LP/MCC ES)

The Engaged University has worked with LP/MCC ES students and staff since 2004 on the Community Nutrition and Urban Farming Program.  Our Parent Leadership Workshops were developed at the school and ran for three years there.

Nicholas Orem Middle School (NOMS)

The Engaged University has partnered closely with NOMS students, staff, and parents since 2005 on various programs including the Community Nutrition and Urban Farming Program, the Mural Arts Program, the College Park Scholars Program, and the Summer Enrichment Program.

William Wirt Middle School (WWMS)

Riverdale, Maryland

The Engaged University’s new home at the Center for Educational Partnership is just down the street from William Wirt Middle School which has been our major partner school since 2006. WWMS students have been working closely with us to prepare and grow the Master Peace Garden at the Center. They have also worked with us to complete two murals for permanent installation on school grounds. Summer 2007 inaugurated our first comprehensive Summer Enrichment Program with WWMS called the "Free Minds Collective."

New Partner School This Year:

  • Charles Carroll Middle School--Named after Charles Scott Carroll, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, this school was established in a new housing development in Riverdale Heights/New Carrollton in 1959. The school is currently home to over 1,000 students who come from 5 communities and 14 countries.
